Write a Letter to a Friend Explaining a Scheme to Remove Illiteracy from the State

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education has taken up a scheme for removing illiteracy from the state. According to the scheme each student of class IX and X has been asked to make at least one person literate. Write a letter to a friend in Maharashtra explaining the merits of the scheme and its hindrances. And also add how far you have achieved in this respect.

My dear Swastik,

I am already in receipt of your letter. You have wanted to know about the Literacy Campaign in our state. The scheme has been undertaken in order.to remove illiteracy from our part of the country. If it is successfully implemented then there will be no illiteracy person here. Everyone will be able to read and write. But there are some practical problems to implement the scheme. In most cases, it is found that old people are not very interested in the program. Moreover, there should be a moving supply of teaching aids and instruments like paper, pencils, and slates. I am, however, entrusted with the task of making a group of old literate men. You will be happy to learn that their progress is satisfactory. Very soon they will be able to read and write well.

More about it later. Hoping this finds hale and hearty and with love,

Sincerely yours,

Shamik
